The weekend is winding to an end, and so is my painting of Jason! I’m painting the canvas edges and doing some final touches on the face. I’ve determined from my last stopping point that I needed to warm up his lips and brighten the shirt a bit, as well as add some more hair details and highlights. I’ve rotated my canvas in part so that I won’t get the wet red edges on my easel, but it also provides a fresh perspective. Now that I’ve taken a photo of the current progress by my photo reference, looking at this static photo is helping me find even more areas to fix. So I’ll share before the day is over! I’ll probably be up for a while later tonight tweaking away. Tomorrow evening I will drive to Arlington to submit this piece in an art competition.
