Day 31 : Jason Progress

Hello, friends! A month has passed since I started my Face-a-Day project. Today I return to Jason — the same subject matter with which I began this project. While not fully complete, he’s improved quite a bit since I first debuted his progress a month ago.

Accompanying the progress of Jason, I have a Face-a-Day project update! With a new month comes a new bend of my plan.  My February intention is to shift gears and hone in on progress rather than the practice of January. The practice has been good for me! I’ve noticed some of my tendencies toward specific inaccuracies so I’m learning how to position myself towards faster, better final product. Doing a daily drawing has proved a little tiresome as it takes work just to make the time to do it. After I get into the drawing, I get into a great meditative, relaxed state of heightened observation that I find quite rewarding. The habit I’m forming is proving a valuable step towards reaching potential. As valuable as this practice is, I think an even more valuable use of my time is to begin developing more finished works and focus on quality vs. quantity. So many of my daily faces will be continuing progress rather than a sketch begun and forgotten within a day.

Also, due to the happy success of my new Etsy store, I now have a lot of projects pending for the new month! On days that I work on my covert commissioned projects, I will post something less elaborate, perhaps just a fast caricature– if only to keep myself in routine of the daily post. My goal for the project is to keep me on task — entertaining you is just a fun perk. After all, this girl has a full-time day job in addition my marvelous graphic, photographic, and fine art endeavors!

Thank you to the folks who have been showing me love on Facebook! It really brightens my days. Keep the feedback coming people– it helps fuel my work!

So cheers to February! More art to come!
